Michael Giacopelli was searching for a unique solution to complement his sunken pool bar area. Michael has a mini oasis in his backyard that was lacking its full usability due to overexposure to the sun or rainy weather. Pergola Roof offered a unique solution to Michaels problem by designing a pergola that could be mounted over a portion of the pool and the entire sunken bar area.

Normally a project with such specifications would be a complicated feat, however due to Pergola Roof’s talented architectural and design team, Giacopelli’s dream became a possibility. “The best feature, other than being able to keep the sun off of you, is the fact that it is waterproof. You could sit out there in a light drizzle or the rain, and it’s really nice to hang out in there.”
His pergola features motorized shades that he could keep partially open to provide shade in the bar while still enjoying the view of the pool. When fully closed, the screens keep the insects out of the space, which Giacopelli has been enjoying.
The sunken bar houses lounge couches, a fireplace, a sink, cabinets. Right outside of the pergola, the barstools reside in the pool. The structure of Michael’s pergola has a wooden finish to mimic the accents of his house. Rain or shine, Michael and his family can dive and lounge under the protection of their louvered pergola
